Very expected game when 8th ranked Caen (3-5) was smashed at home by first ranked C'Chartres (6-2) 92-60 on Friday. C'Chartres dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Caen's 24 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. C'Chartres forced 19 Caen turnovers and had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by naturalized Guyanese forward Gide Noel (200-1993) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 steals and point guard Yann Siegwarth (185-1993) supported him with 14 points and 6 assists. Five C'Chartres players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by American center Tyere Marshall (206-1997, college: Rider, agency: SLN) did not help to save the game for Caen. Guard Yanik Blanc (188-1999) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. C'Chartres have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-2 record, which they share with Tours and Rouen. Caen lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. C'Chartres will meet at home Orchesien BC (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caen will play against Union Rennes and hope to secure a win.
