Second Stage Round 8: Boulogne - Tours 74-85
Date: April 7, 2023
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Tours (6-2) beat 4th ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (4-4) in Boulogne-sur-Mer 85-74 on Friday. Tours looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by swingman Pierre-Etienne Drouault (196-1990) who scored that evening 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American swingman Scott Suggs (197-1989, college: Washington) supported him with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds by Serbian-Montenegrin power forward Luka Nikolic (209-1994) did not help to save the game for SO Maritime Boulogne. Malcolm Gountas (190-1994) added 16 points and 5 assists for the hosts. Four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tours have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Rouen and Chartres. Loser SO Maritime Boulogne keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Tours will meet at home Andrezieux (#4) in the next round. SO Maritime Boulogne will play against Rueil and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
