Regular Season Round 20: Roche - Flammes 100-59

There was an upset in La Roche where higher ranked Flammes (8-11) was crushed by tenth ranked Roche (8-12) 100-59 on Saturday. Roche made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game, while Flammes only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Flammes 39-22 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Roche especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Tima Pouye (174-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. American-Jamaican forward Tiffany Clarke (183-1991, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Roche's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The former international swingman Sara Chevaugeon (177-1993, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) produced 9 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Emmanuelle Tahane (185-1999, college: URI) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Roche moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hainaut and Angers. Flammes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Roche will meet Tarbes (#10) on the road in the next round. Flammes will play against Angers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
