There was a surprise result in New Eritrea where ninth ranked Ermis S. (13-11) beat higher ranked Panerythraikos (16-10) 86-78 on Saturday. Ermis S. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Panerythraikos' 34. They outrebounded Panerythraikos 50-39 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Montenegrin center Milovan Draskovic (211-1995) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Zack Bryant (188-1997, college: Georgia South) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Guard Kostas Efstratiou (185-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds, 14 assists and 4 steals and power forward Manolis Matalliotakis (202-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Ermis S. maintains ninth position with 13-11 record. Loser Panerythraikos dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost. Ermis S. will meet at home Megaridas (#10) in the next round. Panerythraikos will play against Eleftheroupoli (#6) in Kavalas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
