Important game to mention about took place in Las Palmas. Fourteenth ranked Gran Canaria (11-18) saved a 3-point victory at home edging higher ranked Cadi La Seu (15-14) 62-59 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Cadi La Seu. Cadi La Seu was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Czech guard Petra Holesinska (178-1997, college: UNC) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American guard Stephanie Watts (180-1997, college: UNC) replied with 13 points and center Montserrat Brotons (193-1998, college: ORU) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Cadi La Seu. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gran Canaria moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Jairis. Cadi La Seu at the other side keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Gran Canaria will play against bottom-ranked Tenerife (#16) in San Cristobal in the next round. Cadi La Seu will play at home against Girona (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
