Regular Season Round 26: Anwil - Astoria 97-81
Date: April 10, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Enea Astoria (8-18) lost to ninth ranked Anwil (14-12) in Wloclawek 81-97 on Monday. Anwil looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Enea Astoria's players. American power forward Malik Williams (211-1998, college: Louisville) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Luke Petrasek (206-1995, college: Columbia) supported him with 19 points. Anwil's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 29 points by American point guard Mike Smith (180-1997, college: Michigan) did not help to save the game for Enea Astoria. The former international guard Daniel Szymkiewicz (195-1994, agency: BIG) added 20 points and 4 assists for the guests. Anwil have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Czarni. Enea Astoria lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with GTK and Start. Anwil will meet GTK (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Enea Astoria will play against the league's second-placed Wilki Morskie and will have a slim chance for a victory.
