Very predictable result when fourth ranked Union Rennes (5-4) smashed at home 9th ranked Caen (3-6) 97-58 on Friday. They outrebounded Caen 47-26 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Union Rennes shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Union Rennes looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Caen's players. The best player for the winners was Guinean forward Cheick Sekou-Conde (203-1992) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Lucas Fontaine (180-1996) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Four Union Rennes players scored in double figures. Union Rennes' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Tyere Marshall (206-1997, college: Rider, agency: SLN) who recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and guard Yanik Blanc (188-1999) added 13 points respectively. Union Rennes moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Caen lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost.
