Regular Season Round 29: Vichy Clermont - Stade Rochelais 95-101

There was an upset when higher ranked JA Vichy (16-13) was defeated at home by fourteenth ranked La Rochelle (12-17) 101-95 on Friday. La Rochelle looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Robert Turner III (190-1993, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Gaetan Clerc (189-1991) chipped in 31 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American guard Tray Boyd III (193-1998, college: ETSU) responded with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Nigerien center Serge Mourtala (212-1998) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. La Rochelle moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Denain-Voltaire. Loser JA Vichy dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Orleans. La Rochelle will meet at home higher ranked Olympique Antibes (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JA Vichy will play against Saint Chamond and hope to secure a win.
