Everything went according to plan when second ranked Avenida (25-7) defeated 14th ranked Jairis (11-19) in Salamanca 65-55 on Saturday. Portuguese-Serbian guard Jovana Nogic (185-1997, college: Providence) nailed 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Canadian forward Bridget Carleton (185-1997, college: Iowa St.) accounted for 9 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Belen Arrojo (188-1995) came up with 8 points and 9 rebounds and American-Slovenian power forward Shante Evans (185-1991, college: Hofstra) added 12 points respectively for Jairis in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 25-7 record having just three points less than leader Valencia. Jairis lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost.
