Round 27 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Baskonia (22-5). They were edged by fourth ranked Tenerife (19-8) 83-81 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Baskonia. It was a great evening for Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-1983) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Markus Howard (180-1999, college: Marquette) with 33 points (!!!) and the other American import guard Darius Thompson (193-1995, college: WKU) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tenerife maintains fourth place with 19-8 record. Baskonia at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Barca who have the same record. Baskonia will play next round against Obradoiro trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tenerife will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Bilbao on the road.
