There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Aix-Maurienne (10-20) beat higher ranked Lille Metropole (19-11) in Aix-les-Bains 86-77 on Tuesday. Aix-Maurienne forced 20 Lille Metropole turnovers. American guard KJ Jackson (188-1998, college: UMBC) notched 26 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and American-Kittitian swingman Shaun Willett (193-1996, college: Queens, NC) supported him with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Five Aix-Maurienne players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by center Bastien Vautier (210-1998) did not help to save the game for Lille Metropole. Forward Carl Ponsar (203-1997) added 13 points. Lille Metropole's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Quimper. Loser Lille Metropole keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. Aix-Maurienne will meet higher ranked JA Vichy (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lille Metropole will play against La Rochelle and hope to secure a win.
