Regular Season Round 30: Chalon/Saone - ASA 87-88

The most exciting game of round 30 in the ProB took place in Chalon. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Chalon/Saor (21-9) to ninth ranked ASA (15-15) 88-87 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chalon/Saor. Strangely Chalon/Saor outrebounded ASA 48-33 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Chalon/Saor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-Nigerian forward Christian Nwogbo (200-1991, college: Cedarville) who saved his team from a defeat with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Sofiane Briki (193-1999) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. ASA's coach Julien Espinosa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Antoine Eito (188-1988) replied with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Lionel Gaudoux (198-1995) added 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Chalon/Saor. Five Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. ASA maintains ninth position with 15-15 record. Chalon/Saor at the other side keeps the second place with nine games lost. ASA are looking forward to face higher ranked Chalons-Reims (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalon/Saor will play against Nantes and is hoping to win this game.
