Regular Season Round 27: Sassari - Trieste 103-80
Date: April 19, 2023
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Sassari (16-11) rolled over at home 12th ranked Trieste (10-17) 103-80 on Wednesday. Sassari forced 19 Trieste turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Chris Dowe (189-1991, college: Bellarmine, agency: GoEmpire Group) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 assists. Naturalized Senegalese power forward Ousmane Diop (204-2000) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Sassari players scored in double figures. American guard Frank Bartley IV (191-1994, college: Louisiana, agency: One Motive Sports) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Emanuel Terry (206-1996, college: LMU) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Trieste in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sassari maintains fourth place with 16-11 record, which they share with Varese. Trieste lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Reggio Emilia and Scafati. Sassari will meet league's leader Virtus BO in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trieste will play against Pesaro (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
