Very predictable result when third ranked Rivas (17-8) beat at home 11th ranked Santa Cruz (6-19) 81-77 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Rivas made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Rivas outrebounded Santa Cruz 43-28 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Claudiu-Ruben Bivolaru who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Eduardo Gomez (192-1993) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Rivas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Turkish forward Erkam Kiris (203-1998, college: Davis & Elkins) with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Joel Juarez (196-2002, agency: BIG) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Rivas keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Santa Cruz lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with 19 games lost.
