Regular Season Round 30: Cantabria - Coruna 84-86

Eleventh-ranked Cantabria (13-17) made lots of trouble for third ranked Coruna (21-9) in Torrelavega on Sunday. The visitors from Coruna managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Coruna looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Serbian forward Djordje Simeunovic (201-1995, agency: 011 Sports) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese center Atoumane Diagne (215-1998) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Four Coruna players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Bosnian Mirza Bulic (207-1992) with 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Alejandro Marin (193-1988) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Coruna have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 21-9 record having six points less than leader Palencia. Newly promoted Cantabria keeps the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Coruna will meet at home Albacete (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cantabria will play against Melilla (#18) and hope to secure a win.
