Regular Season Round 30: Fos-sur-Mer - Strasbourg 87-65
Date: April 23, 2023
Bottom-ranked Provence Basket managed to get a ninth victory on Sunday night. This time they outleveled eleventh-ranked SIG Strasbourg in Fos-sur-Mer 87-65. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 22-point difference proves that Provence Basket was well-prepared to that game. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Provence Basket outrebounded SIG Strasbourg 40-22 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Jamaican center Shevon Thompson (213-1993, college: GMU) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Stephen Brown Jr (180-1996, college: Bucknell) supported him with 16 points and 9 assists. Five Provence Basket players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by forward Leopold Cavaliere (203-1996) did not help to save the game for SIG Strasbourg. American guard DeAndre Lansdowne (188-1989, college: Fort Lewis) added 12 points. SIG Strasbourg's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Provence Basket maintains eighteenth position with 9-21 record. Loser SIG Strasbourg keeps the eleventh place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Nanterre. Provence Basket will meet higher ranked Le Portel (#14) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SIG Strasbourg will play against Limoges CSP Elite and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
