There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Strasbourg (16-14) beat on the road 7th ranked Nancy (18-12) 88-76 on Tuesday. Strasbourg made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Strasbourg outrebounded Nancy 40-27 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Maxim Ilvovskiy (203-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. British forward Michael Belle (200-2003) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Strasbourg's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Pierre Aworet (191-2003) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists and swingman Guillaume Grotzinger (195-2004) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Strasbourg maintains ninth position with 16-14 record. Loser Nancy keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. Strasbourg will meet higher ranked Limoges CSP (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
