Regular Season Round 30: Zirve - Xirdalan 96-109

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Baku: Xirdalan (#4) and Zirve (#7). Zirve was defeated at home 96-109 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zirve. Xirdalan dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Zirve's 46. They outrebounded Zirve 55-37 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Xirdalan looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Xirdalan made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American power forward Andrew Corum (201-1997, college: Virginia St.) who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Devin Pullum (188-1999, college: Rogers St.) chipped in 28 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Russhard Cruickshank (183-1997, college: EKU) who recorded 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Georgian Levan Gogaladze (197-1997, agency: BIG) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Zirve players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Xirdalan have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 19-9 record. Zirve at the other side keeps the seventh place with 21 games lost.
