Regular Season Round 30: Gran Canaria - Girona 78-73
Date: April 30, 2023
No shocking result in a game in Las Palmas where seventh ranked Gran Canaria (18-12) won against 14th ranked Girona (10-20) 78-73. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Senegalese center Khalifa Diop (215-2002) notched a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Polish-American AJ Slaughter (191-1987, college: WKU) supported him with 17 points. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Even 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) did not help to save the game for Girona. International point guard Joaquin Colom (188-1988, college: Lleida, agency: BIG) added 18 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gran Canaria moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Joventut. Newly promoted Girona keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Gran Canaria will play against league's second-placed Baskonia in Vitoria in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Girona will play at home against Tenerife (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
