Regular Season Round 29: Varese - Scafati 95-81

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Scafati (11-18) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Varese (17-12) 95-81 on Sunday. Varese looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Colbey Ross (185-1998, college: Pepperdine) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners and his fellow American import Markel Brown (191-1992, college: OK State) chipped in 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Polish guard David Logan (185-1982, college: Indianapolis) responded with 24 points and American power forward Kruize Pinkins (203-1993, college: USF) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Varese moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sassari. Newly promoted Scafati dropped to the twelfth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Trieste and Napoli. Varese will meet league's second-placed Virtus BO in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Scafati will play against Brescia (#8) and hope to secure a win.
