The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Targu Mures outrebounded Ploiesti CSM 35-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-1987) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. American guard Anthony Mathis (193-1996, college: Oregon) helped adding 21 points and 4 assists. Targu Mures' coach George Trif used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was American Kenney Funderburk (193-1992, college: Columbus St.) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 assists and Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Targu Mures and four Ploiesti CSM players scored in double figures.
