No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Tenerife (22-9) defeated on the road 14th ranked Girona (10-21) 88-72 on Saturday. Tenerife looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-1989, college: Notre Dame) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side American-Cameroonian point guard Jeremiah Hill (188-1995, college: Valdosta St.) responded with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international point guard Joaquin Colom (188-1988, college: Lleida, agency: BIG) scored 8 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tenerife moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Girona keeps the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Manresa. Tenerife will meet at home Murcia (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Girona will play against Real Betis (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
