There was an upset when higher ranked Montecatiniterme (17-16) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Borgomanero (11-19) 106-93 on Saturday. Borgomanero shot 61.7 percent from the field. Borgomanero outrebounded Montecatiniterme 36-25 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Guard Alberto Fragonara (186-2004) notched 19 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and Daniele Benzoni (194-1980) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Borgomanero's coach Stefano Di Cerbo used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!) by Marco Lagana (197-1993) did not help to save the game for Montecatiniterme. Naturalized Argentinian forward Fernando Marengo (193-1992, agency: Players Group) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Borgomanero moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Gallarate and Teramo. Newly promoted Montecatiniterme keeps the eighth position with 16 games lost.
