Second Stage Round 6: Mantova - RO SAzzurra 84-85

Very significant was RO SAzzurra's (#4) just 1-point road victory against one of their biggest challengers Mantova 85-84. It was a key game for the top position in the league. RO SAzzurra made 27-of-31 charity shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Mantova was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Duane Wilson (190-1994, college: Texas A&M) notched 22 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and the former international point guard Jacopo Giachetti (191-1983) supported him with 20 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Wilson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. RO SAzzurra's coach Luca Bechi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by American forward LaQuinton Ross (203-1992, college: Ohio St.) did not help to save the game for Mantova. The former international power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (208-1991) added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Five RO SAzzurra and four Mantova players scored in double figures. RO SAzzurra (7-5) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Chieti and Juvi Cremona. Mantova at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with San Severo.
