Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Gipuzkoa and 9th ranked Alicante had identical 18-14 record. But Alicante was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from San Sebastian 81-79 on Friday night. Gipuzkoa made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. American guard Justin Jaworski (190-1999, college: Lafayette) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and American-Italian guard Adam Sollazzo (198-1990, college: ETSU) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was Icelandic point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-1991, college: Newberry) with 12 points and 6 assists and American swingman Delaney Blaylock (196-1997, college: Lewis) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Alicante players scored in double figures. Alicante's coach Rafael Monclova tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gipuzkoa maintains eighth place with 19-14 record. Alicante lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Gipuzkoa will meet at home league's leader Andorra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alicante will play against Castello (#10) in Castellon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
