There was no surprise when 15th ranked Girona (11-23) was defeated at home by second ranked Baskonia (28-6) 75-70 on Wednesday. Baskonia made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Baskonia outrebounded Girona 43-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. American guard Darius Thompson (193-1995, college: WKU) scored 16 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Estonian center Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-1996, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American-Cameroonian point guard Jeremiah Hill (188-1995, college: Valdosta St.) scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Baskonia maintains second position with 28-6 record behind leader Barca, which they share with Real Madrid.
