Regular Season Round 1: Olimpia - Gorizont 2 118-25

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gorizont 2 in Grodno on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Olimpia 118-25. Olimpia held Gorizont 2 to an opponent 19.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 59.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Olimpia forced 39 Gorizont 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Gorizont 2's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Olimpia made 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Hanna Lapo (189-1997) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Ulyana Skiba (173-2000) contributed with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Forward Ksenia Prokhorchuk (-2007) answered with 4 points and point guard Yliana Kazak (167-2004) added 5 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gorizont 2. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia is looking forward to face RGUOR in Minsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gorizont 2's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Minsk Gorizont.
