But Rio Breogan was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Vitoria 88-79 on Sunday night. Baskonia had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Baskonia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American guard Markus Howard (180-1999, college: Marquette) nailed 29 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Nigerian forward Chima Moneke (198-1995, college: UC Davis) accounted for 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Argentinian center Juan Fernandez (209-2002) came up with 13 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (208-1996) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Rio Breogan in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Baskonia will meet Murcia on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rio Breogan will play against Andorra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
