Regular Season Round 1: Armann - Selfoss 73-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Armann in Reykjavik. Hosts were defeated by Selfoss 87-73. The game was mostly controlled by Selfoss. Armann was better in second period 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Armann's 28. They outrebounded Armann 56-29 including a 44-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Mike Asante (201, college: Academy of Art) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Czech center Novak Vojtech (205-1997) chipped in 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Selfoss players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Devaughn Jenkins (201-1995, college: Angelo St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-1990) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Selfoss will play against Skallagrimur in Borganes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Armann will play on the road against Hrunamenn in Fludir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
