Tenerife's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Rio Breogan (1-3) 88-81 on Saturday. Tenerife made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-1983) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 assists and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Tenerife players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by Lithuanian swingman Matas Jogela (201-1998) did not help to save the game for Rio Breogan. Argentinian center Juan Fernandez (209-2002) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tenerife left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Rio Breogan. Tenerife will meet higher ranked Girona (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rio Breogan will play against Valencia (#6) and hope to win that game.
