There was a small surprise when ninth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (4-2) outscored at home 7th ranked Sluc Nancy (3-2) 89-64 on Sunday. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Cameroonian point guard Paris Lee (183-1995, college: Illinois St.) who scored 11 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-1995) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jordan Bowden (196-1997, college: Tennessee) who recorded 15 points and his fellow American import point guard Frank Mason III (180-1994, college: Kansas) added 12 points respectively. Five ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Limoges and Nanterre. Loser Sluc Nancy dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. They share it with Saint Quentin. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will meet JSF Nanterre (#6) on the road in the next round. Sluc Nancy will play against Metropolitans and hope to secure a win.
