Kipina used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Turun 90-59 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Kipina led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Kipina outrebounded TuNMKY 61-35 including a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Nathaniel Pollard Jr. (196-2000, college: UMES) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Coryon Mason (181-1999, college: ACU) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds. Pollard Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Kipina players scored in double figures. Polish guard Verneri Virtanen (188) came up with 14 points and 4 assists and guard Matias Suomela (190-2004) added 12 points respectively for TuNMKY in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kipina will meet ToPo Juniorit in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. TuNMKY will play against RaPy and hope to win that game.
