Regular Season Round 7: Cholet - Strasbourg 78-90

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Cholet Basket (4-2) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked SIG Strasbourg (3-3) 90-78 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for forward Leopold Cavaliere (203-1996) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international guard Paul Lacombe (198-1990) helped adding 23 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side center Neal Sako (210-1998) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American Gerry Blakes (193-1993, college: Arizona St., agency: BIG) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Cholet Basket's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. SIG Strasbourg moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Cholet Basket dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Saint Quentin and Nancy. SIG Strasbourg will meet at home league's leader Monaco in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cholet Basket will play against Le Mans (#12) and hope to secure a win.
