Regular Season Round 2: Valur - Hamar 100-64
Date: October 11, 2023
Very expected game when Hamar was smashed by Valur in Reykjavik 100-64 on Wednesday. Valur looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Hamar's players. The former international guard Frank Booker (192-1994, college: S.Carolina) notched 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and American guard Josh Jefferson (188-1998, college: MTSU) supported him with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds by the former international center Ragnar Nathanaelsson (220-1991) did not help to save the game for Hamar. French guard Franck Kamgain (190-1999, college: HSU) added 11 points and 6 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valur will meet Keflavik on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Hamar will play against Stjarnan and hope to win that game.
