Regular Season Round 3: PeKa - ViVe 84-63

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Vimpelin Veto (2-1) in Kotka on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by Peli-Karhut (2-1) 84-63. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. Vimpelin Veto managed to win third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Vimpelin Veto 38-25 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Kleemann-Day (182-1990, college: Portland) who led her team to a victory scoring 31 points and 4 steals (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). The former international guard Veera Pirttinen (180-1997) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. Peli-Karhut's coach Mika Haakana felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Sam Breen (185, college: UMass, agency: LBM Management) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Lasha Petree (183, college: Purdue) scored 18 points. Peli-Karhut will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vimpelin Veto will play on the road against Kouvottaret in Kouvola and is hoping to win this game.
