Regular Season Round 4: KTP-Basket - Seagulls 84-79

Undefeated Seagulls (3-1) recorded its first loss in Kotka on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked KTP-Basket (2-2) 84-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Seagulls. Seagulls was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of KTP-Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game, while Seagulls only scored nine points from the stripe. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KTP-Basket made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shaun Doss (196-1999, college: UAPB) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Ahmad Rand (203-1998, college: Milwaukee) who added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. At the losing side Nigerian-American forward Chuba Ohams (206-1997, college: Fordham) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 20 rebounds and American guard Qua Grant (185, college: SHSU) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Seagulls players scored in double figures. Seagulls' coach Vesa Vertio rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KTP-Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Seagulls still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. KTP-Basket will meet Bisons (#10) in the next round. Seagulls will play against Pyrinto (#12) and hope to secure a win.
