Regular Season Round 5: Gorizont 2 - Brest 84-42

Gorizont 2's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Brest (0-4) 84-42 on Saturday. Gorizont 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Brest's 26. Gorizont 2 forced 37 Brest turnovers. Strangely Brest outrebounded Gorizont 2 46-28 including a 25-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Brest's players. Forward Ksenia Prokhorchuk (-2007) nailed 19 points and 4 steals for the winning side and Elizaveta Prokofieva (-2007) accounted for 12 points. Four Gorizont 2 players scored in double figures. Lyudmila Karinchuk (173-1995) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Anastasia Sharko (170-2002) added 5 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Brest in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gorizont 2 (1-3) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Victoria. It was Brest's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Gorizont 2 will meet Victoria (#7) in the next round. Brest will play against RGUOR and hopes to get finally their first victory.
