Regular Season Round 4: Kouvot - ViVe 85-82

The most exciting game of round 4 in the Korisliiga took place in Kouvola. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Vimpelin Veto (2-2) to sixth ranked Kouvottaret (2-2) 85-82 in the game for the fourth place. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 27-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Vimpelin Veto outrebounded Kouvottaret 43-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Johanna Raty (172-2001) fired 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Venla Varis (180-1998, college: GCU) chipped in 19 points. American forward Sam Breen (185, college: UMass, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and her fellow American import forward Sirena Tuitele (185, college: California) added 21 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kouvottaret moved-up to fourth place, which they share with HBA-Marsky and ViVe. Kouvottaret is looking forward to face Tampereen Pyrinto (#8) on the road in the next round. Vimpelin Veto will play against the league's leader Torpan Pojat (#1) in Helsinki and is hoping to win this game.
