Everything went according to plan when Valencia (3-0) outplayed at home Ensino (0-3) 102-41 on Saturday. Valencia dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ensino's 32 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Ensino only scored 0 point from the stripe. Valencia forced 25 Ensino turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Ensino's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Queralt Casas (177-1992) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. The former international swingman Alba Torrens (188-1989) accounted for 14 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. Point guard Laia Lamana (170-2002) came up with 13 points and American-U.S. Virgin Islands swingman Imani Tate (175-1995, college: Albany) added 9 points respectively for Ensino in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia will meet Gernika (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ensino will play against Avenida (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
