Regular Season Round 7: Limoges - Cholet 81-90

There was an upset when higher ranked Limoges CSP Elite (4-3) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Cholet Basket (4-2) 90-81 on Saturday. Cholet Basket made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American Gerry Blakes (193-1993, college: Arizona St., agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 6 rebounds. Dutch forward Emmanuel Nzekwesi (203-1997, college: ORU) helped adding 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side Montenegrin center Danilo Nikolic (205-1993) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Nicolas Lang (198-1990) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Four Cholet Basket and five Limoges CSP Elite players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cholet Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Saint Quentin and Nancy. Loser Limoges CSP Elite dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with ASVEL and Chalon/Saone. Cholet Basket will meet Le Mans (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Limoges CSP Elite will play against the league's second-placed JL Bourg (#2) and hope to secure a win.
