Regular Season Round 2: RSU - Jurmala 71-70

One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. The game took place in Riga where RSU edged visiting Jurmala 71-70. RSU forced 21 Jurmala turnovers. Swingman Anita Mikelsone (178-2001) had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Luize Septe (180-1999, college: S.Florida) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Five RSU players scored in double figures. RSU's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Latvian guard Zozefine Sipolina (173-2005) responded with 29 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Nikola Ozola (170-2000, college: FAU) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. RSU will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jurmala will play on the road against Kibirkstis-MRU in Vilnius to get more than just one victory in their record.
