Regular Season Round 6: Olimpia - Gomel 97-42

The game between Top Four teams took place in Grodno. Top-ranked host Olimpia (5-0) smashed 3rd ranked Gomel (3-2) 97-42. Olimpia dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Gomel's 26 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Olimpia forced 34 Gomel turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Gomel's players. The best player for the winners was guard Ulyana Skiba (173-2000) who scored 12 points and 8 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Elizaveta Shishlyuk (180-2005) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Volha Hromik (183-1993) who recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Daria Pilyuk (176-1996) added 12 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpia have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with BC Minsk. Loser Gomel dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Olimpia will meet at home league's leader BC Minsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gomel will play against Gorizont in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
