Regular Season Round 5: Spojnia - Twarde Pierniki 73-84

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Twarde Pierniki (3-2) won against 6th ranked Spojnia (3-2) in Stargard 84-73 on Sunday. Twarde Pierniki dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Spojnia's 40. They outrebounded Spojnia 44-19 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Twarde Pierniki looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International Aaron Cel (203-1987) nailed 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and American Arik Smith (185-1993, college: Cal Lutheran, agency: Players Group) accounted for 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Devon Daniels (196-1998, college: NC State) came up with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian forward Aleksandar Langovic (205-2001) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Spojnia in the defeat. Five Twarde Pierniki and four Spojnia players scored in double figures. Spojnia's coach Sebastian Machowski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Twarde Pierniki moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Spojnia and Stal. Twarde Pierniki will meet at home Stal (#7) in the next round. Spojnia will play against Trefl in Sopot and hope to secure a win.
