Regular Season Round 4: Campobasso - Ragusa 78-54
Date: October 22, 2023
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Campobasso (3-1) rolled over at home bottom-ranked Ragusa (0-3) 78-54 on Sunday. Campobasso made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Campobasso outrebounded Ragusa 43-25 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Nigerian power forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds and guard Stefania Trimboli (176-1996) supported her with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Campobasso players scored in double figures. Campobasso's coach Domenico Sabatelli felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 10 points by American point guard Jasmine Thomas (175-1991, college: Michigan St.) did not help to save the game for Ragusa. Nigerian-American power forward Oderah Chidom (193-1995, college: Duke) added 12 points for lost side. Campobasso moved-up to third place, which they share with Schio and San Giovanni. Loser Ragusa still closes the standings with three games lost. Campobasso will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ragusa will play against Sassari (#10) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
