Regular Season Round 4: Grindavik - Breidablik 115-85
Date: October 26, 2023
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Grindavik and bottom-ranked Breidablik had identical 0-3 record. This time Grindavik used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Kopavogur 115-85 on Thursday night. Grindavik forced 26 Breidablik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Dedrick Basile (178-1994, college: CSUB) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Hungarian-American swingman DeAndre Kane (195-1989, college: Iowa St.) who added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American Keith Jordan (198-1998, college: SHU) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Karl Birgisson (198-2004) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grindavik (1-3) left bottom position moving up to tenth place. It was Breidablik's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Hamar. Grindavik will meet higher ranked Njardvik (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Breidablik will play against Tindastoll (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
