Regular Season Round 6: KTP-Basket - Lahti 104-103
Date: October 27, 2023
Very predictable result in Kotka where fifth ranked KTP-Basket (4-2) edged 11th ranked Lahti (1-5) 104-103 on Friday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 29-24 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KTP-Basket made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Vincent Golson Jr (173-1994, college: CSUDH) who scored 19 points and 9 assists. Swingman Vili Nyman (198-1998, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward James Padgett (203-1991, college: Maryland) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Erik Sajantila (195-2001, agency: Octagon Europe) added 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Five KTP-Basket and four Lahti players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. KTP-Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Korihait. Loser Lahti dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Pyrinto and Bisons. KTP-Basket will meet Kobrat (#6) in the next round. Lahti will play against Pyrinto (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
