Regular Season Round 5: Schio - Roma 84-53

Very expected game when 8th ranked Roma (1-3) was crushed on the road by third ranked Schio (4-1) 84-53 on Saturday. Schio outrebounded Roma 38-24 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Schio especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Giorgia Sottana (176-1988) who scored 11 points and 6 assists. American swingman Robyn Parks (185-1992, college: VCU) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Schio players scored in double figures. Schio's coach Georgios Dikaioulakos felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian-American guard Ezinne Kalu (173-1992, college: SSU) produced 13 points and 4 assists and Mozambican power forward Leia Dongue (185-1991) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Schio. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with San Giovanni and Bologna. Newly promoted Roma keeps the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Ragusa. Schio will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Roma will play against Ragusa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
