There was an upset when higher ranked Armani Milano (3-2) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Pesaro (2-3) 90-82 on Sunday. Pesaro dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Armani Milano's 24. Strangely Armani Milano outrebounded Pesaro 43-28 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Armani Milano's players. American forward Quincy Ford (203-1993, college: Northeastern) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Ray McCallum (191-1991, college: Detroit) chipped in 11 points and 10 assists. Five Pesaro players scored in double figures. Spanish Nikola Mirotic (208-1991) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and French center Ismael Kamagate (211-2001) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Armani Milano's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pesaro moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Scafati and Cremona. Defending champion Armani Milano keeps the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Tortona and Napoli. Pesaro will meet at home higher ranked Napoli (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armani Milano will play against Brindisi and hope to secure a win.
