The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Unicaja's (3-6) road victory over 13th ranked Maresme (1-6) 73-68 on Saturday. Unicaja outrebounded Maresme 51-32 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Portuguese center Clara Silva (198-2006) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Elena Moreno (183-2004) chipped in 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was center Lucia Mendez (182-1988) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and forward Mireia Vila (182-1991, college: St.Joseph's) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Unicaja maintains twelfth place with 3-6 record. Maresme at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with six games lost. Unicaja are looking forward to face Lima-Horta (#14) in Barcelona in the next round. Maresme will play on the road against Picken Claret in Valencia and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
