Regular Season Round 8: Estudiantes - Zaragoza 71-75
Date: November 18, 2023
Very predictable result in Madrid where second rankedZaragoza (7-1) beat 7th ranked Estudiantes (4-4) 75-71 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-1996, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 steals (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) and the former international guard Mariona Ortiz (183-1992) who added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Zaragoza's coach Carlos Cantero used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Belgian center Billie Massey (184-2000) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Dutch forward Kourtney Treffers (187-1994, agency: LBM Management) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Estudiantes players scored in double figures. Zaragoza have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record behind leader Avenida. Loser Estudiantes keeps the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Ferrol and Barca CBS. Zaragoza will meet at home Gernika (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Estudiantes will play against Barca CBS (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
